Wow, it's really a shame none of these guys are headed to Worlds. No offense to Gregorek, but I would take Davis or Prakel over him ANY day. It's good to finally see some Americans running fast, though. PRs for the top 4 Americans, and sub-3:35 for Hunter and Prakel is great to see, it's been a long time coming I feel. Something to note; while many view Hunter's career as a disappointment, he has now dropped 6 seconds off his 1500 (including mile conversions) since high school. That's the same amount as Webb, and more than Ryun and Fisher. Heck, he's improved almost as much as Teare since high school (3:40->3:34 vs 3:42->3:33). It's a shame that he hasn't been more consistent and doesn't have much of a kick, but clearly he's still a solid and improving runner and I hope to see him continue to chase the dream.

One note; Fisher has also improved 6 seconds over 1500 (from 3:41->3:35), so they are equal in that respect. I thought his PR was still 3:36 when I made the post, my mistake.

Prakel and Gregorek are extremely comparable, I’m not sure why you think a time Johnny could run here changes that.
Also you’re understating Teare winning a US outdoor title, an NCAA title, 13:05 PB etc etc. Hes run probably about a second and a half faster equivalent in the mile and hasn’t raced a fast 1500 yet. This is good for Drew but his USAs performance was the other side of the coin.

I am in no way arguing that Teare (and Fisher, for the matter) are not BETTER athletes than Hunter. That much is obvious. Teare is most certainly better, and as I said at the end, Drew struggles with both consistency and racing, two VERY important aspects of being a professional runner. I just found it an interesting statistic that by the numbers, they were fairly similar high school athletes and are now fairly similar pro athletes. In reality, the difference is that Hunter DOMINATED in high school and now can't even make a US final, while Teare was probably only the 3rd-best runner in his class coming out of high school (Brown and Worley both had better resumes overall imo) and is now a US champion and looks poised to be the future of American distance running.

I get what you’re saying but they are misleading numbers with that level of imprecision. At least put in the decimal points. Hunter is likely around 2+ seconds faster in high school and just around 1.5 seconds slower as a pro. That’s with Teare’s PB from an indoor race not near his peak.

Yes, the entire point is that the numbers are misleading.
Watch replays and highlights from 2022 Under Armour Sunset Tour #3 on FloTrack. Watch on your computer, on the FloSports Mobile App, your Smart TV, Roku or FireStick.
Great to see these times, but why is Under Armour hosting a track meet on the same night as the beginning of the World Championships?? That’s messed up. All the attention for the next week should be on the athletes competing in Eugene.
!!! He's gonna get paid, then still has a great career ahead. that's how you use the NCAA system to your advantage
I was thinking about this.
In Kenya, with $2000.00 you're very well off for a year. Imagine if the typical American runner had, say, $100K a year. He/she could live comfortably and put money away for the future.
We'd have a lot more fast runners out there. They can stay in the sport as long as they want.
