Could the US Women Throwers make history in Eugene?

    I was browsing this year’s world leaders and noticed Americans have the world lead in all the women’s throwing events.

    Shot put - Chase Ealey 20.51m

    Discus - Valerie Allman 71.46m

    Javelin - Maggie Malone 65.73m

    Hammer Throw - Brooke Anderson 79.02m

    I did some research and noticed only once at a WC or OG has a single country swept all 4 throwing events on either the mens or womens side: the Soviet Union men in 1980. Could this American quartet make history and join them as the second group to accomplish this feat?

    I think the USA will win shot put and discus, but not the other two.

    Ealey got the win in the shot put today. 3 Americans made tomorrow’s hammer final and Anderson looks to have a decent chance at a win.

    Damn, two down, two to go! Our 2-3 in the shot weren't great, but we did get a 2nd shot medal.

    Allman's really the best thrower we have, but she will get a fight from Petrovic. I don't expect a javelin win, but the event is really down and stranger things have happened.

    Whoops, meant to say "we did get a 2nd *hammer medal."

    And, have to add, Andersen was awesome on her last 3 throws. Really dominated, whereas Ealey did with just one great throw (her 1st).
