Some resentful individuals complained because he is son of a key agent for them, yet his potential and #'s said that he would fit well not only personally from having been at Stanford but athletically, IF he could remain healthy.
Raw, fragile talent developing along. He is more like Kincaid than GF. Injuries clouded any major consistency in the NCAA. We will see if he makes the 5k these next few teams.
Kid has run 3:37.9 & 13:17 this season in first year with a group. A lot of talk when he joined he wasn't that good. How ya like him now?
Ten college kids could replicate that were they in the same position. He got the job not because he deserved it, but because of his dad ... the American way.

As bad as nepotism is here, I wouldn’t be too certain it is that much worse than other countries.
In fact, if 10 college kids could do exactly what he could, and the differentiation point is that he is vouched for, that’s not nearly as bad as being completely talentless.
He seems to have had a nice stretch of healthy, consistent running. Anybody know what the difference is? How has he been able to stay healthy this time around? Given his injury history, I would have thought Bowerman would not have been a good fit, given the team’s history of injuries.

They take risks in training and a lot of the time they pay off.
To say he got on BTC because of his dad is pretty reasonable. He didn’t have the credentials and frankly still doesn’t. He would be pretty competitive in the NCAA but not a lock for anything. That alone shows he’s really not BTC quality - all of those guys would basically win NCAAs easily, Ratcliffe would not. He would not have signed with Nike or BTC if it wasn’t for his father, this really shouldn’t be that controversial of a statement. Maybe he will make a team some day, but he’ll make a team because he got access to Jerry and his group, an opportunity most guys would never get all other things equal. Throw a bunch of college 13:30 guys at BTC and you’ll get some 13:0x guys eventually. The only other question mark was Tuntivate, but he seems to have earned his stripes since.

Woody Kincaid, Josh Thompson and Amos Bartelsmeyer aren't super stars in college either and they still went to BTC after college.
Afterthought, Ratcliffe doesn’t bring much to the table on the publicity side either. No real social media presence (<2k followers) and very minimal press coverage.
All of that said, 7th at USAs is a good sign (granted some big names skipped or DNS’d), maybe he will surprise.

He is not a kid, he is 25 years old. Just about the time people should stop talking about potential and more about results. Have he gotten any results yet?
He did get like, what, 3rd at NCAAs the year Grant won the 5k right? Off of like one season of being healthy. Definitely not a complete random person to be recruited. Reminds me of cranny who would be injured for a full season or 2 and then within a couple months of being healthy placed 2nd-5th at NCAAs
