Sage and French Jim are putting in the work. On their respective days in the Alps Jim > Sage at this point of their careers but UTMB is more about surviving and grinding away. A lot of people go out hard and drop, especially during the night. That means someone can battle away and make the podium even if they aren’t close to the winner.
I think Sage can do it, so I’m backing him for a hard earned podium (top 5) which will be a fantastic effort considering how his last 2 years have gone.
Jim on the other hand hasn't finished a UTMB in 5 years. I think this year, he probably doesn’t win but finishes again and learns a lot, then next year he wins it. Maybe he needs a winter skiing and eating pickles with Francois to really get the body ready for it.

Yes, TECHNICALLY Ol' Jimbo hasn't finished UTMB in 5 years..but it's not like its 5 DNFs in those 5 years
It's 2 DNFs, 2 "Not Entered" and 1 "Race not held due to Covid"
Mostly I feel bad for Sage because recently someone here likes to over hype him. Maybe wait until he has done something before expecting he will go well at UTMB. Even before he had major health problems the likelihood of him doing well at such a long race was pretty low.
