Ran 10.17 (+0.3) and then 10.12 (-0.9) on Friday.
I've got 3 takeaways.
1) It's a good sign he was able to do two races despite his recent injuries.
2) He's not that far off where he was last year. Last year, he won the Italian champs in 10.01 (-1.0) and ran 10.05 (-0.8) on July 4th less than a month from his Olympic gold (August 1). He didn't break 10.00 for the first time in his life until July 9th. 23 days later, he was the Olympic champ. But it's still a tighter window this year as the 100 final this year is on July 17th, so that was 22 days from the Italian champs. If the Worlds are when they normally are, I think he'd be fine. He's really pushing up against it this year if he's hoping to repeat but I think he'll be sub-10 for sure. Would it shock anyone if he skips Worlds and focuses on Eurpos? I hope not. Let's hope he uses Worlds to build to that..
3) If only the US stars loved to compete like this guy and ran World Indoors and their national champs when they didn't have
