Scott Fauble fires shots at Cole Hocker!

It's an odd take by Fauble but everything I've ever read from him has been kinda..."off". You know?

Scott, who is best known in the running world as a guy who eats burritos, takes shot at 20 year old Olympic finalist, who later revealed he’s been not training for 2 weeks leading up to USAs.

Curious how he’ll walk this back today, or if he’ll make no comment and just go back to his usual state of being completely irrelevant.

Fauble doesn't understand the sport and is unfamiliar with Hocker's racing history. It's a classic uninformed "hot take" by a typical vapid millennial, devoid of character.

Completely agree with Fauble. Injury or not, whatever, protocol for all the Nike folks is to never race, but instead fabricate secret time trials, then somehow expect to magically know how to run 'tactical' races.

Scott's take is just dumb. What races did Hocker dodge? He just raced the best milers in the world at the Pre Classic.

For a profession runner, he seems to be pretty ignorant.

Cole didn’t fail tactically. He ran a great race tactically. He completely controlled the race. He just ran out of gas. Why?

Because he’s injured and hasn’t been running.

Guys like Fauble and Silva make it hard to root for University of Portland. They must not promote class and civility up on The Bluff.

Is Fauble's take on Hocker really any less ridiculous than LR's take on Rupp over the years? Y'all called out a dude who raced in 14 OG/WC finals between 2007 and 2020 for "never racing."

To be honest Scott is the only male American distance runner that’s done anything noteworthy lately. The track is boring if your’re not trying to take Jakob down right now. Dude crushed it in a couple marathons.

Being a good marathoner in the US is like being the top of of your remedial school class. Like ... good for you? Minus Rupp who actually has medals (shady coach or not).

I mean, he’s ranked 150th in the world rankings in the marathon but he enjoys sitting at the top of the American marathon scene (our weakest event on the world stage by far). Is a 2:09 marathon a few years ago and a 2:08:52 a few years later really that much of an achievement anymore?

Also, he’s raced exactly 3 times in the last 13 months. And he want to trash a guy for not racing enough?

Marathons are not tactical. And you can only race about 3 per year. It is like comparing shot put to high jump.

A lot of marathoners have gone down in distance (aka 10k) for a pay day or to stay sharp. He could easily do that.
