You can thank all the people who refused to vote for Hillary Clinton. And they're morons. We suffer through a presidency for only 4-8 years, but the SC justices hang on for 30-40 years. Young people will be suffering through this conservative court for most of their adult lives. Hope voting for Jill Stein was worth it.
Makes sense. There is no constitutional right to abortion. This ruling DOES NOT ban abortions, which is what many on the Left have been trying to say in order to galvanize their base. All this ruling does is turn the decision over to the individual states. Most states have already publicly stated that they will allow abortions, with the limitations varying by state. The Blue States will certainly allow abortions with few limitations. Most Red States will also allow abortions, albeit with strong limitations (i.e., the Mississippi Law that banned abortion after 15 weeks that led to this SCOTUS decision). Possibly a few Deep Red States might ban abortion altogether but this is unlikely. Even is they do, all a woman needs to do is drive across the border and get her abortion. Not much will change with this ruling.
“All they have to do is drive over state lines” You think that’s a reasonable way for a woman to obtain healthcare? You think all women are going to have easy access to do that? Abortion isn’t just birth control, it is also a life-saving procedure for a woman. My own sister nearly died during a very much wanted pregnancy from a non-viable fetus. Had she not been able to receive an abortion, she wouldn’t be here.
I don’t think you’ve done five seconds of reading on this subject.
Rich people will be fine. Poor people will be screwed. The few clinics in New Mexico near the Texas state line are already booked beyond belief with women trying to come from Texas, which is a large state, making it a far distance to travel for many people.
Roe v Wade, gone. Abortion will become illegal in around half the states. I've said for years that if this happens, the Dems will get a boost. Tons of people will wake up feeling like the dog who caught the sports car and have some massive buyer's remorse. Millions don't want to live in a theocracy where the government has this kind of power over women. And many religious Rs can stay at home now and not vote, because they are one-issue voters and the deal is done in their state. And now moderate pro-life types can vote for Ds for congress, senate and WH. Because abortion doesn't matter any more nationally. Will be interesting to see if this causes a shift in politics, starting in November 22.
STOP LYING. Even the most republican states are going to allow abortions in cases where the mother's health is at risk. They will also allow abortions in the case of rape or incest.
If you support this as a man, I assume you also stay abstinent. Even if you’re married, it’s possible that a terminal illness could make a pregnancy unviable, or a serious birth defect could result in the need for termination, or the life of the mother is endangered, and since you can never know, it’s best you all keep your penises to yourself!
Or, do you all just think it’s the responsibility of women to use birth control and deal with pregnancy while men continue to do whatever they want?

We have finally taken a social issue away from politicians to use as a political point and sent it to the states just like it should have always been.
If you dont like the ruling, just move to a BLue state. Pretty simple to understand
This is hopelessly naïve because republicans already signaled their would pursue federal laws banning abortion and states are looking to ban their residents from "driving across the border" for abortions.
Not to mention Thomas also suggested we revisit laws on birth control and gay marriage (funny he didn't mention interracial marriage which as also a SCOTUS ruling because he is married to a white terrorist)

Wouldn't be so sure. A woman's health is always 'at risk' when pregnant. That's why civilized people let women decide if pregnancy is a risk they want to take on.
Clarence Thomas, concurring: "in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell."
If state lawmakers are making medical decisions for people, should they be liable for malpractice? If a woman is harmed because she was unable to terminate a high risk pregnancy, seems like she should be able to go after the individual(s) who denied her the procedure.

Yeah! And everyone has the resources and agency to move to a different part of the country! It’s no burden at all!
