I know people hate posts debating the ages of high schoolers but this post isn't meant to talk about the high school record. Also to be clear, it's not anti-Cade (it's more a reminder of just what a stud Brazier is). I actually really like Cade's attitude and racing style and his appearance on the LRC podcast made me like him even more. Track and field needs more people like him.
Having said all that, I thought it would be interesting to compare Brazier's freshman year of college vs. Cade's senior year since they were essentially the same age (Brazier turned 19 in April of his freshman year and I think Cade said he turned 19 in May). Indoors in his first collegiate race Brazier ran 1:45.92 and outdoors at the NCAA championships two months after turning 19 he ran 1:43.55. So he was basically three seconds faster than Cade both indoors and outdoors. I acknowledge that if Cade was running in competitive races instead of running all alone all the time he probably runs a little faster but likely not 3 seconds. It will be interesting to see how fast he can run at USAs for a real comparison to Brazier.
