Why’d he blast the semi for the HS record? why not the final?
Why’d he blast the semi for the HS record? why not the final?
I would assume that he wanted to set a really good national record, so he did it on the race that he was fresh for. If he had decided to blast the final, he wouldn't have recovered from winning the semi-final the day before. You're only fresh for one race, and that's the prelims. Record-setting is for the prelims. Finals is for winning.
Which he did not do
Did not do what? Win the final? Ummmm…yes…he did
Please do not confuse the dimwits with facts. It makes them cry.

actually a pretty interesting read
He LOST THE FINAL to Aaron Richburg. He ran like he did in the final because that is what his father told him to do.
I believe it had something to do with the wind. It was an unusually calm evening, he was feeling good so he went for it.
He lost his junior season. Not his senior year. Won pretty comfortably.
Maybe similar to this deal:
because he, by the abuse of his dad, had some serious mental challenges when it came to running
When you make these sort of accusations it would be helpful to provide some evidence.
Read the MileSplit article linked above.
I ran my lifetime 800m PR in a semifinal
Evidence above. Clown.

Great personal essay and story.

He lost to Aron Richburg his Junior year who went on to run for Auburn
Amazing story. Everyone should read. He breaks the record on the day his dad explodes at him and his mom and destroys the house for returning 5 minutes after his “curfew” from an award ceremony for getting a top 10 gpa. Some serious resilience there.

I now look at Granville in a completely different light and am happy to see that he is in a great place in his life. I once asked his teammate Ato Bolden why Michael never ran faster and he did not have an answer.
