A joke? At 35, with what she has accomplished in the sport, she has earned the right to do whatever she wants. She won't make another national team, and there is nothing more she can do to add to her legacy at this point.
its interesting to see that. She doesn't bring much value to the brand if she isn't performing because she doesn't believe in social media ect... she get like 200 like per a post (for very few posts), vs a coburn who builds believes in building a brand and gets like 20000. So, once jenny stops running/producing results it makes sense if her contract was up, her value would go down significantly. She probably has other ideas in her head of what her next path is and signing a small contract with NB wasnt it.
This is because she is out firefighting. What a joke.

The reason it is a joke was because she said she was going to miss some racing to fight fires in Boulder. Is she still fighting fires? No. She is not good enough anymore. Great career though.
A lot of disrespectful posts on here, honestly. She's a great athlete, with an amazing string of consistently high-level performances. I don't know why anyone would be cheering on the retirement of such a talented runner. Just because an athlete reaches a limit in one event, or decides to transition to another, doesn't make them done.
Regarding current/future plans, it was mentioned at the recent collegiate hall of fame induction that she is not retired. So perhaps she's moving to a different distance (but not enough training to do USAs at her best, due to the fires, injury or other), or perhaps she's transitioning fully to the roads. She may not be pursuing peak 1500 performance levels anymore, but there are plenty of other events she can still crush at if she decides to.
Maybe got measured in shoes or without. Also, the time of day your height is taken at makes a difference (really).
Do women shrink at the same rate as men as they age ? I would think no, due to the average weight of a women is less that a man .
Even slight differences could result in whoever reads the lines on the ruler coming up with a different value. The value prior to rounding could have, for example, changed from 166.60 to 166.42, which is not a lot. So the post above, "1 full cm", is not necessarily accurate. It is also well within margin of error and could be observed without a real change in body height. (wearing socks of different thickness, different hair, or even just the same ambiguous value on both days but with the person conducting the measurement looking at the ruler from a different angle.)
I am not sure why Jenny Simpson's height matters at any rate.
her IG profile no longer has new balance as a sponsor. Wonder why she isnt declaring retirement yet
It'd be surprising if they dropped her completely and didn't put her on some sort of "legacy" contract, with all her accolades and profile in the sport. Seems like it would still be lucrative to throw some dollars her way as long as she stays active doing promotional stuff for them.

She isn't literally fighting fires but the fire thing probably taught her that there's more to life than running in ovals. Maybe she's taking a year off to get pregnant or something.
