Aussies, are there no flights to Bathurst? How in the hell are we supposed to get to world cross?

There must be flights to Sydney and I am sure they have rental cars there as well.
You might have to get used to drive on the wrong side on the road with stick shift.

Bathurst is a small regional town (famous only for a motor race), it's not big enough or far enough from Sydney to warrant having commercial flights. By the time you arranged parking, checking in, security clearances and the actual flight and disembarking etc, it's quicker to drive anyway.

Its about a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney (through the Blue Mountains, worth the drive just for that) or there is a train from Sydney daily. You'll need a car if you are visiting there anyway so best to hire one from Sydney airport.

Nice drive to Bathurst but, so youse and the other overseas visitors should enjoy it.

Bathurst is a small regional city of less than 40,000. It's 3 and a half hours from Sydney by bus or train but quicker to drive. There used to be flights from Sydney with Rex but they have dumped a lot of small regional services Inc I think Bathurst.

When you land in Sydney try to hook up with some primary school kids going on a gold mining excursion to Hill End.

But seriously, lets be fair dinkum for a minute, it's a beaut drive and a way to see at least a bit of the country.

To get there you have to drive through the Great Dividing Mountain Range, so ya never on the way through them we pick up a couple of hot sheilas that the mountains are known for, and ya know what they say, "mountin womin love mountin men".

Rojo - when you come to Eugene, do you fly to Portland and then rent a car? This sounds like the same thing. Or do you go to SEA, SFO, ORD or DFW and then book the direct flight to Mahlon Field?

Why would they even put this in such an obscure place? Bad enough it in Aus but then further making it out in the sticks?

World Athletics needs to wake up. Place World Championships in mega city centers. It’s the only way to get eyeballs and grow the sport. I remember when World XC was run in Boston it was freaking amazing.

Bathurst is the Eugene of Australia.

Nobody would ever visit Bathurst unless there are the WC in Cross Country running there. Bring a tent and sleep with the kangaroos.

And despite putting in the middle of nowhere, I bet they still make them run a 2K loop numerous times, right?
