brooks PR entries are out and it looks like Sahlman will be in the 800, not the mile with Gary Martin. Why would he dodge racing Martin like this? I thought the mile was his focus?

I'm not sure why he's doing the 800, but Sahlman said that doing a post-season 800 had been his plan for a while, so this isn't new. I do agree that he should be in the mile, though. I doubt he will break 1:48.5 in this race.
If anything, we should be asking why Sumner is in the 400 instead of the 800.
Before posting you should have reviewed the various threads that have discussed this. Before Martin ran his sub 4 mile Sahlman had already decided to run the 800 at Brooks post Bowerman mile. He's not ducking Martin or anyone else.
My apologies Mr. Sahlman - thought it was recent news based on a runnerspace post. Too bad they won’t race in a mile
He’s literally racing Jakob Ingebrigsten in a couple of days, don’t really think he’s ducking anyone
This^^^^
...and I really wish he was going to do one more 2 mile, break 8:30
Colin Sahlman ran 1:48.8 about 2 weeks ago. even though his race tactics weren't very good.
With better tactics at Brooks PR, Colin might even be able to break 1:48.
What???????????????
He's got no chance against Jakob in a race so he's not "racing" him...he's just in the same race, are you fricking serious??????
He IS ducking Martin, yes, believe it. He knows Martin will kick his butt and he doesn't want that.
So are Flatt & Sumner ducking Colin?
🤔🤑
He should be racing Martin. This is what it’s all about. Instead his Coach has overtrained him and burnt the heck out of the kid. He won’t break 1:53 and likely will not race after this Sat. I highly doubt he runs below 4:05 at Pre
How much do you wanna bet on that? Guarantee you're pretty much the only one that thinks this. He's still PRing every race so no, he's not overtrained. Be quiet with your negativity, you're wrong.
Colin ran 3:39 two weeks ago and 1:48 one week ago.
I’m sure the plan is run a fast mile at bowerman then a fast 800 at PR. Per my prediction in the prediction thread, I said I will not break 4 minutes at bowerman. I still stand by it and it will make the 800 less motivating.

Colin Sahlman has Bigger fish to fry, On Saturday he us going for the High School And American Junior Records at1500 AND Mile Records, the plan is to be faster than 3:34.36 at 1500 Which would break Hobbs Kessler's American Junior 1500 Record And then Start Sprinting to see how far under Ryun's 3:51.3 American Junior Mile Record. Quite a Challenge props to him for trying this unique 2 Records in one race, Good Luck to him.
Run a 3:34 and then start sprinting? When did Brosnan or Colin say that?
POTM
Why don't you all tell Gary Martin to stop ducking Sahlman and move into the 800? It's really not that difficult.
In 2 years Jakob Ingebrigsten will be ducking him (Sahlman)!

Douglas Burke's post is a complete fabrication. Colin Sahlman is NOT trying to break Hobbs Kessler's 3:34.36 1500 record. Nor is he trying to break Jim Ryun's 3:51.3 mile record.
Colin is completely ignoring his 1500 split and is simply trying to run the fastest mile he can.
Colin has stated that his main goal is to PR in the mile and his secondary goal is to hopefully run 3:55. He was asked if he thought he could run 3:53 and break Alan Webb's high school mile record and he said it's very unlikely.
