I'm curious where in the US or abroad you would consider the worst place to run. Ex. no bike paths, no parks, lots of intersections, lots of traffic, high crime...
Myrtle Beach - just terrible all around. Not made for anyone to walk around, let alone run. Can apply for a lot of other beach towns. Usually they are just one long, heavily trafficked boulevard.
BVI and USVI - roads are narrow, curvy, hilly, yet that does not slow down the drivers. Think I would need to have a death wish to run on those roads
"Worst" is a strong word but generally speaking I've been on some semi-miserable runs while traveling and staying in a hotel in a strip mall type area. This was especially true back in high school when traveling with my family so I couldn't really take a car somewhere better to run, nor would I have really had much clue where to go anyway. So you end up running along super traffic-choked streets or maybe a decent little subdivision if you're lucky.

Everywhere i have ever lived. Except one year in denver.
Florida is a big state. There are some bad spots for sure. Living near the beach on the west coast, I have intersection free sections of uncongested bike trails for more miles than I can run (up to 22 miles in training). I hop on the trail 600M from my house.
I had a great 8 miler this morning, but it’s getting hot. Ran Sunday at noon with a dew point of 74 and direct sun (feels like 93 degrees). It will get worse before it gets better, but I’ll feel like a champ on race day up North in September. Running in August in FL is also still probably better than running in Duluth in January.
I agree with the BVIs. I spent a week there and it was tough to run.
There was this one mile long unlit tunnel for locomotives that cut through a mountain outside of Blacksburg, VA we had a course that went through it. I don't recommend running there, especially after dark (which a group from our team also had done after downing a few beers).

I appreciate the tipon BVI and USVI - may visit there soon. I agree with you on Myrtle Beach. They put on a great marathon and half marathon but the place is not runner friendly. Their "boardwalk" is too short to be any good and it's made of bricks.

Both BVI and USVI are amazing places to vacation if you do it right - just don't count on getting much running in.
anywhere in appalacia, no shoulders on windy and undulating roads. many rural American towns with loose dogs running around. High traffic areas with highways in suburbia near strip malls.
