Reigning European U20 5000m champion Joel Ibler Lillesø from Denmark bettered one of Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s many European U20 records in Sollentuna, Sweden on Saturday (29) afternoon. Only 18, Lillesø shaved three seconds off I...
Denmark has not had a decent Male runner since 800 Runner Wilson Kipketer who was the greatest 800 runner of all time with David Rudisha being the only one who could argue that, and Robert Anderson a good 3:31.17 for 1500 runner Hopefully Joel Ibler is another good one, who sparks interest in Running in Denmark.

Coe has as much claim as Kipketer. Kipketer has no 800m Olympic gold, just like Coe. Coe took the 800m to new level, running 1:41.7 when no other man in history had run under 1:43.5. It took Kipketer literally dozens of attempts with perfect pacing at the height of the full throttle EPO era to finally beat Coe's time. Not to mention Snell, El Cabello, and Cruz.

Coe ran under 1:43 twice. Kipketer 22 times. Kipketer 3x world champ, Olympic silver and bronze. Indoor WR still by a second. I’ll take Kipketer

Mostly, with just some high-3:30's/13:40 guys. Though Bube went 1:44.89 at Herculis 2012, Jensen ran 13:25.39 in 2000s.

Maybe DEN is ready for a NOR style rebirth?
I was watching an old race from the 70s. Finns were dominating.
Top Finn guy last year was a 13:55 and 29:23. Crazy how slow they are now…

Coe has a claim to being as great or an even greater overall runner than Kipketer. But at the 800 it is objectively no contest. Kipketer dominates on titles, records and dominance. Yes, he lacks the Olympic gold, but let's not act like missing the one that was in his physical prime isn't a key factor. He won Worlds in '95, '97 and '99 and went undefeated in all 15 800m races in 1996. Hard to imagine him not winning gold had he the opportunity. In 2000 he was not the same athlete finishing 2nd and 3rd in his two races before the Olympics and racing much more sparingly. Really a silver was a good performance, but his tactics left something to be desired.
