Yeah, it's somewhat cool if he breaks Granville's record but it is not the same exactly. When I graduated I was 17 and didn't turn 18 until right before my freshman year in college. He's good; he's great. However, if he breaks the 800 meter HS record at 19 years old, it is not the same.
I may be a cheat but I do know Granville broke at somewhat 18 years old. If records are correct, Cade is older than most who would or could have broken the HS 800 record. This is a fact. Brazier was 19 and 56 days when he broke Ryun's record and ran 1:43. I love Cade's sh** talk right now but he's no Brazier or Granville yet. He's just too old for that right now. Sorry. I hate to say it but facts are very real.
People can downvote this all day. The fact remains Cade is way older than all the previous owners of the HS 800 record. If he gets it cool, but don't act like he's that special in the history of track and field at his age.
Spot Granville and Brazier amn extra year in HS and things would be different in the records. Being almost 19 or 19 within a day or two in the summer of your graduation, simply does not compare to what Brazier, Ryun, Webb, or anyone did before that.

If you're going to throw shade at Flatt for his age while a senior, then I expect that you would not be in favor of a redshirt senior setting a record in the NCAAs. You can't have one without the other.
Will Sumner is the prodigy everyone really needs to watch. Like I said, I am not discounting Cade is running great. Still, settle the hype down, he's very old compared to his HS competition right now. It's not amazing as most think it is.

That's completely another thread while I do agree it's valid to address at some point. My point is Cade breaking the record right would NOT be in Granville's league because of his age.
you guys sound so dumb. we are talking about a high school record, not an age group record, yet all you talk about is his age. cade didn’t make the rules, he didn’t go to high school later than other kids to be able to break a record. he is in high school, he is running fast, give him a break for f sake.

So you're essentially discounting any child that started Kindergarten Readiness at age 5 athletically moving forward or someone held back in first grade.
Not saying that this is Cade's case, but are you willing to say you openly support making a child responsible for teacher, school or parental decisions when it comes to track time validity?
In little league, age matters. In interscholastic athletics, this is

You realize it's not a age record but a highschool record. There actually are age records if you guys are so bothered by legal ages in highschool

I know why Sumner is being brought into this but he's clearly much more overhyped. A 25 year old with a 1:54 outdoor best is something Flatt should be concerned with? Gimme a break. Sumner is a slow geezer.
Who cares about Granville either. Granvilles friggin PR is that same HS mark-1:46.45!! A nothing talent turns out. Was probably just overdeveloped early, probably due to HGH.
Flatt is so much more talented than both. That's why the particular haters can't stand he's so good.
Who cares about what you think if someone is 18 or 19 in high school. Its going to go on the record books and millions will recognize Flatt as the HS record holder and forget about Granville.
