Not a terrible performance in the 1500 today but not where he should be at all. Still 3 seconds away from his PR that he ran 3 years ago. Time to hang up the spikes?

nice work spencer keep it going
Who cares? If he enjoys it why does it matter to a nobody like you? Why do people care if he is still running or not?
Yeah, he should do it as long as he wants to. We're not on this planet for an infinite amount of time. Best to spend as much of it doing what you like as you can.
At least he’s going in the right direction. I always felt 3:37 was too much to aim for this season. I think he can PR this season once he absorbs the hulk of the more specific work he’s doing, but 3:37 will require a bit more time
He looked good, but he was terrible tactically the last 400m running on the outside the entire time. He could’ve waited till 300m to go to start passing but he got too impatient. Other than that I think he should feel encouraged about his effort.
Agree, he did look better in this race, but needed better tactics and stronger finish. Needs to be more aggressive in early stages of race if he wants to PR.
Glad to see Allie back on the track even though she was just pacing.
He ran faster than a lot of brooks beasts did yesterday…
Splits were 44.5-60-60-57. Suggests fitness, but it's indefensible to just settle short of goal pace for 1100m. That is what he gets for running all those gd 60-62sec 400s in practice.
Eric holt ran 3:40.9 and was a trials qualifier last year…
lets see what Spence can deliver
I'm more surprised Robby Andrews is still plugging away.
Lol, so he just needs to 1) finish faster and 2) start out faster. Then he will run faster.
What's with your obsession with this guy? Grow up and let it go.
Yes, the simplicity of running is often obscured with an overindulgence of overthinking and unhelpful emotional tumult. Running faster in key segments of a race will typically result in net positive results. If one is not able to achieve these improvements with a straightforward approach then running on “Pure Hate” may be advised.
Why would he give it up?
If he is living his best life and enjoying what he’s doing then good luck to him.
He should stop making YouTube videos.
Hang up the spikes? Half of the guys who have double digit hype threads in here doesn't run any better than that.
I've watched his videos, it's a fun adventure story and there's a lot of good in what he is doing. Right now though he is still better trained for a 3000m, his strength side has improved forgetting there is a cost on the speed side.
They also skipped a step/ gear in his preparation, namely piling up work at 2:50-3:00 km / 1:33-35 600m range. Even piling up 31s would help here which says a lot.
He isn't going to run 3:37 without dropping his 800m. Right now most of the gap to 1500 breakthrough is detectable in a simple 1x 450m test. But my sense here is <7:50 is closer than it appears and that might be the path of least resistance.
Either way wishing him well.
Keith Brown > Danny Mackey. Notice Spencer ran 3:44 with the Beasts and has run faster twice now.
Time to move up
