Headed to NB.
Why before Nationals?
There were several posts on her saying they imagined Noble was popped for PEDs as they couldn't figure out why logically someone would go pro right now. I have deleted them as a source told me he has gone pro and signed with New Balance.
Call me biased as I used to be a college coach and called me old-fashioned as I'm over 40, but society is way too self-absorbed right now. Who is leading this charge to have people go pro in the middle of the season? Are the shoe companies the vultures or is it agent led? Or both deserve the blame?
I think it's sick they are putting these young people in this predicaments.
I don't like it one bit. If a shoe company tried to pressure me to go pro like weeks before NCAAs, I'd be like, "Screw you. Is your love for me conditional and the money going to go away in two weeks? I think it's sick you are trying to get me to go pro right now. I want to win an NCAA title for myself, for my coach and my university. There's more to life than money"
To be honest, it reminds me of the shady college coach who says, "I found some scholarship money but I need to know by Tuesday." Total BS. Let me have a little time to compare my options.
Ok. I can hear of you say, "But they might get hurt." My reply, "Then sign now and dont announce it until after the season."
This new fad is really pissing me off.
Hey. At least New Balance finally has a male US runner.

PS. I changed the title of the thread to reflect what I've learned. It was initially entitled, "
Christian Noble out of NCAA"
Thank you Rojo. I agree with you and can’t figure out what advantage there is to not wait for 2 weeks?
And I don't necessarily fault him. I don't imagine there are that many Lee grads being offered guaranteed mult-year 6 figure jobs upon graduation. I fault New Balance for offering it as an option. Like you can't wait 12 days?
Totally self-centered on the company's part. It's really sick. All of society not is teaching people that life is simply a self focused money grab.
Now if there is more to the story, then I apologize in advance, but this seems to be a fad that's picking up steam.

I know Rojo your instinct is to blame the shoe company, but maybe this is what Noble wants? Looks to me like he ran plenty of races for Lee at their conference meet and DNF’ed (pacing?) at their Last Chance meet, which could’ve been a nice last hurrah to help out his teammates. Not every kid is going to be obsessed with winning every D2 title imaginable and he’s won them before (just indoors). If he’s good with leaving on his terms here and wants to start training specifically for USAs that’s his decision. Track is especially not a team sport outdoors (his team is ranked 15th in D2 so not a factor ), and I’m sure his coaches and teammates are good with it. I find this much more logical than the big, bad shoe company forcing him to quit his team.
1) Congrats to Christian
2) Does this mean New Balance is going to start signing American males? That’s a bigger story to me if the New Balance part is true.
My guess is it was a competitive deal, with several companies after him. Sucks to miss ncaa, but in a situation like that, the winner of the deal cannot let it linger for a few weeks, they have to close it asap or risk losing it.
Layne is not his agent.
This deal has been on the table since February, his agency is the one who is suddenly in a hot-as-hell-hurry to make it happen.
