Future USC runner climbs Everest

Gonna guess she comes from money.

For certain. She'd been climbing with her dad since she was young. As much of a stunt Everest is, she at came to it as a natural progression of her climbing. She'd done a lot of peaks before taking this on.

This is it about this? If anyone deserves a "LUCY MF WESTLAKE!!!" post its her. Westlake is already a legend at 18. No one can overachieve like this kid. Sets up a clean water foundation as a teenager that brings clean water to multiple African countries. Has already climbed all the tallest mountains in EVERY state in the US and most of the tallest mountains in the world. Graduates early from high school with a 4.6 GPA. Has done more than most
people do in a lifetime. I only knew her because she was an elite cross country runner. But what shes accomplished here in the past few years has been mind blowing. more big things ahead no doubt.

Must be nice to have a rich dad who pays for Everest and then some.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do what she did at her age, but I was too busy working summer jobs.

We get it. You guys are underachieving nobodies and failures and Lucy Westlake is the most blatant painful reminder of that fact: a young, big hearted, smart, high achieving, generous, incredibly ambitious popular kid who everyone looks up to and who gets sh*t done. So, yes, she is the opposite of you in every conceivable way. and thank god for that. but dont let me stop you from making bogus excuses about why you havent accomplished 2% of what this girl has in just 18 years of life. clearly being a miserable troll on letsrun is the height of achievement...

I'm cool with her doing this as long as she didn't wave a CCP flag on the summit.

She has an XC PR of 17:22 so she actually may be USC's #1 runner next fall (they are near the bottom of the Pac-12)

I would guess she does as well a permit and climb is $25,000 to as much as $50,000 depending on what climbing company you use for your expedition.
