Sisson ran the AR at the US Half Marathon champs in Indianapolis and while she dropped the rest of the women's field almost immediately, she did have the help of a couple of male pacers, including Brian Harvey, who was with her the entire way.
This was a few years in the making for Sisson as she ran 67:30 in Houston in 2019 and 67:26 in Valencia in 2020 when the AR was 67:25. Sara Hall lowered the AR to 67:15 in Houston in January and now it's 67:11.
Can the women just run really fast without pacers? Why do they always have to have pacers?
She won by six minutes. There is no way she would have broken the record if she was completely alone the entire race. When is the last time you saw a man break an American record and win by such a margin?

The American male half record is even more embarrassing. When Hall set it 15 freaking years ago it was really impressive, but how in the hell has no one managed to better it while the WR is now down in the mid 57s!

Her record is 4 minutes 20 seconds off WR. Hall's AR is only about 2 minutes and 10 seconds off WR.

Kudos to Sisson though for her effort and advancement of the women's record.
It's very likely that both men's and women's AR will be obliterated in the next few years.

Men's distance running is much more competitive. A 59s wouldn't win a major race. Setting the AR at Indy would see a man win by like 3 mins.
