I know this has been debated as nauseam on this board. I just read the news that the race walk 5000M AR was broken with a 19:23. If you can’t beat that, you are a hobbyjogger.
Seems to be a pretty objective mark for being a hobbyjogger, if you cannot beat the fastest walker.
I ran a 19:37 5K a week ago, with no recent training other than base mileage ~25-30mpw at 44 years old. I was far from race shape, but it was an honest effort and I can’t imagine someone walking faster. I have run much faster in the past, but I’d be okay considering myself a hobbyjogger currently.
