Seems slow compared to her marathon best time. Lisa Weightman ran 31:20 in Sydney on the weekend at age 43, marathon best of 2:25.
Meh. Hard to read, it’s not a great time (did you watch the Adidas event!), but she also ran from the front the whole way, then got out-kicked. So somewhere between “she’s done!” and “it was just a workout”.
There's a pretty big difference between the marathon and 10,000 meters on the track. Very few can do both really well at the same time. Look at Rupp last year, only running around 28 flat a couple times, and then gets 8th at the olympic marathon and runs 2:06 at Chicago a few months later. Meanwhile you've got guys running 27:15-27:45 (Ben True, Frank Lara, Sam Chelanga) who can't (or haven't yet) run under 2:10. I bet Scott Fauble woudn't run under 28:00 this season since his training is pretty focused on marathon. You either do one or the other really good for the most part, or one really good and the other sort of good. For Keira her marathon is really really good and her 10k is still pretty good, but not both really really good.
I watched the re in person. KD led from the gun with no help from the other two gals in the break which formed very soon. At probably 6-7K the 3rd place gal fell off and it was just KD and the Chinese gal who would ultimately win the race - jumping to a gap wirh 500m to go. They were about 10:04 at 3200m, pace sliiped from there. She looked OK, did not seem to have a lot of spring or pep in her legs.
Keara has never run a super elite race in anything but the vaporfly’s or next percents or whatever. Even her 15:04 5,000m time trial from 2020 that catapulted her back onto the scene was done in those shoes, and i am beginning to think she is just a SUPER responder. She ran a 10k in dragonflies last year against i believe koko and lost pretty soundly in a not super impressive time, and while 31:50 is great it seems like she should be waaaay better given her marathon form. I was rooting for her to make the 10k team but that seems out of the question. Will they let her into the trials race at pre? This time is 5 seconds off the usa standard but would still kove to see her mix it up with competition
I noticed the same thing, without the supershoes she is mediocre. There are some athletes that get a 10% or more bonus from the shoes.
Gotta love the "experts" who don't have an American Record
I can guarantee you that many people here have run faster times than her
Faster sure but for 5k.
With the workouts she runs you’d think she’d run way faster than that. In my opinion her and Raczko seem to leave a lot of her good performances in practice for the shorter stuff
I think she benefits greatly by a stride that loads the springy shoes.
D’Amato is back in build-up phase. This was surely a workout.

This is correct.
"There's a pretty big difference between the marathon and 10,000 meters on the track. Very few can do both really well at the same time".........Good thing Shorter wasn't privy to this.
