6th fastest in History and fastest since 2020. Won by almost ten minutes and was running solo just a few K into the run. Weather was not perfect by any means: Temps were good (10°C or 50°F) but very strong wind (25km / 15mph) and Hamburg is a little hillier course than something like Berlin.
She will be an absolute force of nature in her next flat, paced race.
Fantastic debut, should be good to run 2:15 at Berlin with the right weather and pacing. Really wonder what Gidey could do in a Marathon, considering she beat Yehualaw pretty handily at HM.
A fantastic result for one of the best half-marathoners of all time! Looks like she has what it takes to be competitive over 26.2
Takes Paula Radcliffes record for fastest marathon debut in the process too.
For those less familiar with her results, she currently has the 2nd, 8th, and 9th fastest half marathon results of all time.
Wonder who her pharmacist is.
Ummm... ever hear of Molly Seidel?
Between her and Yeshaneh, maybe Ethiopia can break up the big 3 (or 4) from Kenya of Jepchirchir, Jepkosgei, Kosgei and Chepngetich. Also feels like 2:15 and 2:16 are about to become more commonplace.
On the men’s side, Kissa is now a man to watch. He’s young and found his event and is part of the excellent group in Uganda with Cheptegei. 2:04:49 debut is no joke. The Kenyan who won (Kotut) and set a huge PB trains with Evans Chebet as well. Quite a week for that group.
Meanwhile a 2:25 is celebrated as god worthy performance In the US women’s running scene lmao
Uganda has bed come a Power in the Marathon and Half Marathon and Distance Running, They have had a few Great Runners in the past, but now they have Depth, they have really upgraded Distance Running in Uganda Recently
Happy to see a fast time by an athlete from Djibouti. Recall Ahmed Salah and the other guy from the 80’s
Curb your snark. Keira seems pretty humble that 2:19 will not last all that long as the AR.
Looking forward to video of men's finish.
Sadly, the failure of the podsters to preview the race or even mention Yehualaw's name in last weeks pod was no surprise. What is stopping the LR staff from interviewing her?
Didn't a few people in an earlier thread nearly predict her time within 30 sec?
at 1:50:20 on the video they are at 40k
Won't be surprised if she sooner or later is busted with peds.
One note to the OP is Kosgei ran 2:16:02 in Tokyo.
We need a BIG money race like Rotterdam 1983 that brings everyone together with pacers and time bonuses throughout the race.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
