Sage's first ultra in 2 years- Canyons 100k Saturday - April 23,2022 Auburn, CA

The OG running vlogger. He was putting out YouTube videos way before it got as popular as it is now.

And now, especially after the health scare and other personal difficulties in the recent years, I wish Sage nothing but luck. Sage if you read this, have fun and run hard!

Waiting to see if Sage can learn how to race without GI issues. That could benefit a lot of ultra run wannabees.

He lost lung tissue due to his pulmonary embolisms (had them in each lung). When he started after recovering from that, he struggled to do 10 minute miles.

This race is his swan song.

He's in 14th place after about 2 hours. That's actually better than I thought he was going to do. He's still done, but I guess kudos for getting after it?

Sage in 16th place with 40 miles in, 28 minutes off lead.

At 40mi he is 46 min back and 1 minute in front of the first woman.

Do they poop on the trail? How do they wipe?

Looks like marathon investigator guy picked the wrong time to quit. There is a loop section of the course which goes out from one aid station (#6) at mile 44.4 and then comes back to to be also be aid station #7 at 49.3, so just under 5 mile loop at 4.9 miles. A racer who was 57:49 back from the lead moved up 9 places in that 5 mile loop to be only 19:21 off the lead. So he gained over 38 minutes in 5 miles? How does that happen?

Has to be a mistake?

Before anyone takes me too seriously, I am pretty sure he must have turned around and walked back to the aid station to drop, I don't think this is a real issue.

At 50mi he was in 16th, 1 hour 18 back and 10 minutes behind first woman. Should be getting close to the finish soon.
