A lot going on with Ben this week and the Hoka NAZ team
On Kiptoo turning pro, Ben said the group found out Kiptoo wanted to turn pro and then pursued it. He'll be racing at Mt. Sac tonight in Hoka, but will finish up his degree at Iowa State.
Ben said Stephanie Bruce's GI issues look to be behind her as she'll drink water and have gels on the course (no electrolyte drinks). Plus she'll be racing in a new Hoka shoe.
And he has a little golf betting talk.
Kiptoo is such a terrible investment. Million dollar legs, zero dollar brain.
His cross-country prowess is good. Finishing 2nd in the most loaded field in XC history is pretty impressive. I think he became a much smarter racer this year than last and what I consider a very impressive 2021 XC campaign, but on the track he seemed to suffer pretty poorly. He beat Charlie Hicks, Morgan Beadlescomb, Nico Young, Aemon Kemboi, Dylan Jacobs, Mario Garcia Rono, Eduardo Herrerria, Adrian Wildschuut, etc.
I could see him doing well in marathons, half-marathons, etc.
You said MOST COMPETITIVE CROSS-COUNTRY MEET. ???????
There are several more competitive Meets every year. Not sure there was a top 10 World Cross guy in that field.
