Last year, he finished second at Kenya's Olympic Trials beating Timothy Cheruiyot and Olympics 4th placer (now World Bronze medalist) Abel Kipsang. He was unable to compete due to insufficient out-of-competition tests, and Tim was allowed in and finished in silver position.
Have not seen any official results from him this year, but it appears he ran a 5,000 on February 19th domestically against Daniel Simiyu Ebenyo (4th in Indoor Worlds 3k) as well as Timothy Cheruiyot: https://www.instagram.com/p/CaKiJO0MDnY/ . Ebenyo confirmed it was a good race in the comments. Etyang is now sponsored by Asics and managed by Mezzo Management Group. This will be his first race outside of Kenya. There is a Moroccan in the field who has run 3:31 in 2018, though 3:34 last year. Amos Bartlesmeyer in it as well.
Erik Sowinski is pacing the race, so we can count on him hitting whatever splits are requested. Intrigued to see how this one goes.
