I was so disappointed when I met my running hero. She grew up in California like myself. She was a decent runner in College but rally excelled as a pro. I always loved her story and respected how she stuck with it until she finally made it. I introduced her to my daughter and she was downright rude. She never acknowledged her and completely ignored us. I am no longer a fan.

That is a shame. I grew up watching and idolizing Shaq. Got a chance to meet him during his playing days in LA and he was very nice. I also happen to run into Usain Bolt while vacationing in Jamaica. He was shooting a commercial at the resort I was staying. He was very friendly. Signed my shirt and took some selfies. I also ran into Mark Cuban while on a tour at old Cowboy stadium 20 something years ago. He stopped and took pictures with our entire group and signed stuff for the kids.
Man it would suck to be a pro athlete. Having to act happy 100% of the time for everyone. Maybe this person is *shock* normal like the rest of us.
I'd be interested to hear what "normal" means to you. All the normal people I know would never be rude to someone who came up to them to express admiration, etc.
And let's be honest - we're talking about a runner here, not Tom Cruise. Whoever the runner is, it's not like they are unable to live a normal life because of overenthusiastic fans.
