I can explain the "algorithm" in the simplest terms.
If we accept as accurate (and that's a stretch) the CDC numbers for total deaths that occurred in the U.S. in the calendar years 2020 and 2021, then 99.7% of all Americans who should have been alive on December 31, 2021 were, in fact, alive.
Looking at it from that perspective, you can stop worrying.
You're welcome.
So if. a million deaths isn't significant enough for you to be concerned about....where exactly would your concern start?
99% still alive? (3 million deaths) 90% survival rate? (33 million deaths)
According to your simplistic reasoning we shouldn't be concerned about anything short of the bubonic plague. I sure hope you aren't one those worried about murder deaths or 9/11.
As the resident covid fact provider, I’ll help here. It’s not a simple did someone die or not. The CDC has stated many times before that 75% of covid deaths have at least 4 comorbidities. This means that 4 other diseases and covid contributed to their death. This makes it very easy for an algorithm to pick up covid deaths that were not in fact covid deaths. In other words, the stories we heard from far right media blogs about people dying in car crashes being counted as covid deaths may be accurate.
There could also be double counting if, say a county and state both provide data covering the same patients.
2 years and you STILL don't understand excess death data?
I'm going to assume you are being intentional obtuse.
Using an algorithm to count things is itself an error.
A "covid death" occurs when a medical examiner confirms that covid was the cause of death. Everything else is not a "covid death."
While it's true that this makes it impossible to thoroughly count "covid deaths," it's true for every cause of death. It's all wild estimates. The difference is the new pretense of it being a count, and lumping in everything with the slightest hint of covid.
3x as deadly as average flu is still the only thing that really matters - i.e. not a big deal.
Your initial estimate was 26 deaths. (2,600 cases, 1% mortality)
I'd worry about your own algorithm.
Also, excess death data blows your entire stance out of the water. But you already know that.
CDC: Oh yeah all these people we said died of covid didn't actually die of covid
Eternal mask lovers: That's great the CDC improved the quality of their data!
Are you really that much of a simpleton?
When it comes to right wingers and covid, no amount of ridiculousness is off limits. Surely you know this by now: it has been a pandemic of the right-wingers for almost a year now; the need to own the libs takes priority over sanity and the most basic level of humility and honesty.

Extremely true. The vast majority of those dying of COVID have been antivaxxers. Willingly killing themselves off to own the libs.

A Million deaths ?
All data put out by the CDC is suspect.
.
I'm using your own number. Are you really that dense? 330 million people. 99.7% survive.. That leaves 329 million. So 1 million died.
So I repeat this question and I am almost absolutely sure you will try to avoid it becaue it exposes exactly how stupid your entire position is.

The anti-everything crowd thinks this blosters their point but all this does is show that the CDC is trying to give people the best data possible. If they were corrupt, liars that they claim, why correct anything at all?

So they're not corrupt they're just really bad at this?

Not nearly as bas as the clowns like you who thought there would be hardly any deaths at all from COVID. Remarkable how you give yourself a pass for being completely wrong, but then try to nitpick the numbers. Whether 900,000 or 975,000 died, you denier clowns have been wrong from the start. Only dimmest bulbs in the denier crowd hanging on now.
Do you have enough integrity to post what your claims were at the beginning? The goal posts have moved so far that you've moved from "no one is dying" to "only a million people died." Complete clown show.
- If "yes," the person's death is the result of Covid.
- If "no," the person infected person #2 who died.
2) Return to step 1
Are there really still people out there who are so simple that they do not understand excess deaths stats? still ? ? ?
Stats? Do you understand the excess deaths estimates? You understand they are estimates based on assumptions of how many people were supposedly going to die. There were a lot of really old unhealthy people still around in 2020. Who is to say their estimates were right. It is an absolute fact that they actually lowered the expected death rate used as the baseline quite a lot right in mid-March of 2020. There was not even a BS explanation for why, then they used the adjustment to scare the crap out of everyone in order to make the "message: stick better. The CDC is corrupt and cannot be trusted. It is beyond me how you still believe anything they are saying.
