Kerley's a real one. My favorite moment was his bemused reaction to his teammate's atrocious interviews following the Olympic Trials 100m.
-----
Lewis: Travon, you had the world lead all year long. How do you live up to that and punch your ticket to the Olympic Games?
TB: GOD IS REAL. THAT's MY ONLY ANSWER.
Lewis: That's your only answer?
TB: THAT'S MY ONLY ANSWER.
Lewis: Are you looking forward to facing the rest of the world when you get to Tokyo?
TB: WHATEVER GOD GOT IN HIS PLANS.
Lewis: ....alrighty.
Lewis: Ronnie, you're making your first team, heading to the olympics with those special shoes. How big is this moment for you?
RB: .....I'm on the same wavelength Tray's on man, it would not be possible without God. I've had a lot of stuff happen to me and I've grown spiritually. I said, yesterday I was talking to a reporter and I said, there's a place where I am and a place I need to be, and God's got to fill that gap. And my faith and my work, that's what's gonna fill that gap. So I'm happy about it.
Lewis: Alright, congratulations, Ronnie. Fred, we were all scratching our heads at you dropping down from the 4 to the 1. How did you manage this final to be here?
Fred: First of all, I believe in my coach and I believe in myself to get to where I'm at now.
Make no mistake, though—this is a business for Kerley. He’s all about the money, and has figured out how to make it. Now he will try to make as much as possible.

How? By winning races? Isn't that what they're all about?
Given Kerley's sub-44 and sub-10 credentials, I figured all last year that he would be a major threat at 200, and wondered why he wasn't. Then at the end of the year, he ran 19.79 and 19.76A. Apparently, he had an ankle problem that prevented him from really getting after on on the curve???
If he puts together his 100m speed and 400m strength, he's going to kill it at 200m!

The US is frankly ridiculous at 200 with potentially a sweep of the top 4 places possible. They do have the bye, but otherwise I'd be concerned about Fred having a B+ race at Trials running 19.80 and losing to Bednarek (19.6x capable), Knighton (so young and talented), and Lyles (appears to be in better headspace this year and 19.4x capable).

Great points. Yes, the US 200 crew is absolutely ridiculous. Not saying he should only run the 200, but I just keep thinking "what if he focused on it for a season"?
I think some of the late season post-Worlds meets are going to see some insane times.
As we know Kerley is a member of that sub10/20/44 club joining WVN and Norman. There is another club out there he might join, that being the world ranked in all three sprints in the same season club joining Jamaican Herb McKenley, Henry Carr and Tommie Smith.
Little story about 400m guys and the 100.
It was in Fresno at the West Coast Relays, Jim Kemp a 45.2 guy out of Kentucky St was there to run the invitational 400m, well nobody showed up. So he works out a deal with the meet promotors to run the 100 yards, this would be his first in competition. Yep, he won it in 9.3 and looked doing it. Kemp was very muscular and looked more like a 100 guy than 400.
