Also, Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete shook off her typically winter indoor blues, and ran 1:28.02 in the same race as Athing Mu. That's the fastest college outdoor time ever in the 600.
Now that Wilson-Perteete is at Texas A&M maybe some of that "800 Meter University" magic is rubbing off on her and she will finally get back to the 2:01.14 800m shape she was in as a freshman.
Athing Mu is back to running events in the 400 - 800 range and she just ran a 1:24.13 in the 600 today.
If Mu is already in that kind of shape now, I can't wait to see what she runs when she peaks this summer.
You obviously don't follow much track and field. She ran 1:23.57 indoors in 2019. This isn't even close to a personal best so if anything, it predicts she will run slower.
Yo dudes, did it look like she was jogging? That's key.
Hard to say. The race wasn't streamed. Athing Mu posted a few brief cell phone clips of the race on Instagram but it's hard to tell from those clips how hard she was pushing it.

Whoa man as I nearly fell out of my chair, dude I red this as I said.

Texas A&M Twitter has the full video up. She starts off with the two Texas A&M girls right behind her for about 200 meters and then Athing just takes off like she does. Probably a negative split. Looked like an easy race.

Athing Mu is an assistant middle-distance coach at Texas A&M and it looks like for the first 200m she was doing her 2 college runners a favor by pacing them to the pace they were supposed to run. Then at the 200m mark Mu was like "OK, you're on your own now" and she took off.
If she was running the race at a better pace, she would have easily run sub 1:24.
Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete breaks the 600m collegiate record with a time of 1:28.02. @BaileyGoggans 1:30.02 is the second fastest time all-time. Aggie pro @athiiing runs 1:24.13 which ranks as the second fastest American and 10th fastest all-time. #GigEmpic.twitter.com/8QMrlGXhhG

27.8 at 200 m, they say 55+ at 400 m so pretty evenly paced
Apparently that 1:28.02 was a collegiate 600m record for Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete! (The indoor collegiate record is 1:26.50, because the event is run more often indoors.) https://t.co/IHIiTc4wpq

Nice! I knew Mu was still training there but did not know about the coaching. Those girls are improving - Wilson Perteete just set a record (although Mu’s indoor record is faster) and Goggins is coming back from an injury. Long live 800 U!

Although she went pro, Mu is still a sophomore in college. With Wilson-Perteete, Goggins, and Dominique Mustin, Texas A&M technically has the fastest college student 4x800 in history. Not eligible for official college record purposes of course, but in any case it shows they are doing something right with the 800 training at Texas A&M.
