I am not a sprinter. But I remember coaches all through HS and college talking about how sprinters needed to stay loose or they slow down.
Coleman had the race in hand at about 40-45m. But then for whatever reason, he got tight. You could see him slow. He even leaned a stride or two too early.
Marcell Jacobs ran a great race. Dipped at the perfect time.
I'm sure Coleman had a mix of emotions. Yeah he wanted gold. He's probably pissed off that he didn't run a perfect race and knows he could have won if he did.
Hope everyone shows up for the 100m in outdoors .. should be fun in Eugene.
Coleman’s essential form has always sucked, save for his block clearance and early acceleration. He always used to die in the 100m second half, until he found a way not to. His form STILL sucks, and this time he got burned for it.
Jacobs, otoh, is excellent. I said last year that his essential form looks similar to Powell’s. He would shellac Coleman right now in a 100m, we will see what happens outdoors. I am waiting for Coleman to tear a ham, with those low knees, huge backside waste, and ridiculous washing-machine arms. He is the least-talented 9.80-and-better sprinter of all time.
Lost in the mix ix Bracy. Nice PB, solid race in the thick of things, didn’t lose composure. I remember that weirdness last year though. What an outdoor season this will be...
The World Athletics Championships will take place in Belgrade, Serbia from 18 to 20 March. For the first time in history, Serbia will be hosting the World Athletics indoor championships. Event World Athletics Indoor Champions...
Anyone else had to double check that it wasn't the same guy who Centro'd to the NCAA 1500m indoor title last week? I haven't watched this 800 yet, and only watched that 1500m once, so at first I thought they were the same person when I scrolled down the LR front page to double check last week's winner. Turns out they are different people on the World Athletics profiles. Really common last name, but any chance they are related? Mariano GARCÍA of Spain, born 1997 and Mario GARCÍA of Spain, born 1999.
And Wellington Zaza of Liberia was the shortest starter in his heat, ran in a full body suit, hit all five hurdles, and still ran 7.80. Get that guy a coach! He's got talent!
