But will it bring some fast Dutchmen?? When was the last time a local won that race? At some point it's kinda weird they just keep organizing a contest for foreigners to win. Does Kenya or Ethiopia host any ice skating races for visiting Dutch to win?
You Tube the 1983 Rotterdam Marathon. Still one of my favorite ever, along with the NYC where Dixon ran down Smith. Snd, of course the NYC Cloud of Dust race.
Haven Hailu the favourite among the women after her third in Amsterdam last year. A sub 2.20 clocking and a win puts her among the Worlds top 20 marathoners at the moment

Ahhh, the Golden Age of Marathoning.
You and me need to hang out.
Sometimes on a Saturday or Sunday morning I'll youtube one of the classics from back in the day.
IMHO- the more international nature of those events made them more popular with the average person.
There were faster runners from more European nations, Latin America, Japan and a few Africans.
They had already named 5 men including silver and bronze olympians. Now 5 women, of who two could go sub 2.20
Belgium's Bashir Abdi ran 2:03:35 last year, setting the course record and the European record.
Dutchman Abdi Nageeye has a 2:06:XX PR and is in my opinion the slower runner. His Olympic silver was a one-off.
Bashir Abdi will prevail.
And Marius Kipserem, former winner and course record holder, wants to take back there course record.
So yes, we might see fast times.
I read that Abdi was injured during the winter. He gave up during the HM of Gent if I'm not wrong. I'm note sure he will be at his best for this marathon, not even sure he will be on the start line, no?
