First of all, I’m sorry that this is probably TMI, but I wanted to hear some thoughts before my doctors appointment next week. So, basically, I run at a decent D1 school and am by no means the best D1 runner, but I was top 70 in cross. I lost probably 25 pounds in the year before that race and everything was going smoothly, running was going so well and I was improving almost every week and doing 20+ mile long runs at paces I used to race 5ks in a few years before. However, I also stopped having my period and have not had one in about a year. Training was still going well until the beginning of indoor (basically the beginning of January) when all of a sudden my legs started feeling tight and having this burning sensation within a few steps of every run that has made running over 2-4 miles nearly impossible ever since. I also had some ITBS and the top of my left foot hurts. Basically from my knee to my foot is painful with the rest of the leg just feeling extremely tight. The right leg also hurts while I run but not the foot. I had x-rays done that showed no stress fractures. Is this the result of no period? I was still running well when all of these injuries started popping up, but I know at this point I’m super out of shape. Does anyone have any advice? Do I stop exercising and just rest until I get it back? I was really hoping to run outdoor this year so I’m just feeling desperate at this point and that’s why this is so long.
