If he wants to make the Olympic team in 2024 he'll need to be a 400 guy. He should make that switch sooner because he won't make the US Worlds team this summer in the 100 or 200.
He tripped on himself coming off the final curve. Overspent after the long jump, all the heats of the 60 and 200, and relays. He would have easily run fast enough to win the 200 if he were fresh.

Well, Boling isn't going to make the Olympic team in the 400 either.
He best bet is the long jump because flukey things happen. If he jumps 27 mid, which I think he is capable of, and a few other guys have an off day, then he makes the team.
The long jump is certainly not a sure thing, but it's a better chance for him than in the 100, 200, or 400.
Im sure it’s very disappointing for him, but he was going to lose anyway. The other fellow was clearly better. Maybe Bolling has technique problems to work out.
His legs gave out on that turn, he almost fell coming out of it. Probably exhaustion from a long meet/season, but it was weird seeing him stumble that badly.
I hope he doesn’t get stuck being a jack of all trades, master of none on the US outdoor circuit. At some point he’ll have to specialize and think he’ll be successful once he does.

He is a much better athlete than Wariner, and has way more speed. Just for reference J.W was a 43 mid guy who had 20.1 outdoor and 20.9 indoor marks. I think Boling has a better head on his shoulders, and could be even deadlier at the 400m. I think his biggest problem is that he hasn't found his Clyde Hart yet.

There have been 100 runners faster than Jeremy Wariner in the 200, and almost none of them were anywhere close to him in the 400.

Jeremy was as smooth a sprinter as you will ever see.
I agree. It was too bad as Boling is a great young runner and jumper. He has had many incredible performances already in his career. What an athlete and competitor. Great in all his events indoors and outdoors 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100, 4x400 and LJ. If you are a coach or athlete you want Boling on your team.

All that matters at this stage of things is what is good for Georgia so he will be a point scorer, his personal success not a real factor and it shouldn't be right now.
Once he leaves the NCAA then he'll end up a 200m sprinter that is where he belongs.
His 60 and 200 PB’s were really good this season. Especially his 60PB of 6.56; big improvement from year before.
If he improves similarly next season, that puts him in an elite class for sprinting.
I think he does seem to peter out in the big events ; its a lot on his legs and probaby mentally as well. Hes counted on to get the lion’s share of Georgia’s points. So far hes avoided major injury so hope to just see him continue to improve; he is a very hard worker and great competitor, from my reading.
