I do lots of this and use a program called Pinnacle Studio. It works great and is well worth $100.
I'm piling on this thread to get some info because I don't know a thing about digital camcorders.
I want to do the following:
Buy a decent camcorder for less than about $600 that my wife can use to record my daughter's track meets and son's baseball games while I'm deployed overseas.
It needs to be fairly simple or by the time she figures it out I'll be home. She is so busy with the kids she needs to be able to transfer the video to DVD rather painlessly. We also would like to be able to edit and make movies.
Canon seems to have gotten some good reviews. Any thoughts or preferences? Do these little things really work when shooting from a distance?
Thanks
