This is the new Canadian record. Fisher is not a true American. He is the type of person that Donald Trump believes should not be living here. He should be deported ASAP and live with that opressive Canadian dictator Justin Trudeau.
Weldon Johnson: You are correct and my bad. His best recorded time is 28:06.58 set in Palo Alto back in 2003. I had personally seen him run a 10,000 m in Montreal Canada which was very close to 28 minutes flat but I don’t remember the exact time and perhaps his brother Robert or Weldon himself could confirm the time he ran at McGill University in either 2000 or 2001. I’m wondering why Weldon had such a short career as an elite athlete? His career as an elite athlete lasted just three years, an incredibly short time.

That was a great run but if you were stunned by it (and over 60% of the people on the homepage said he wouldn't break the AR), then that means you haven't joined our Supporters Club yet as on our Friday 15 bonus podcast, I had an ephinany and it became clear that Fisher would get the record tonight. And he did.
The shoes are worth at least 40 seconds in a 10,000. By the end of this outdoor season average US mens 10,000 times will be at least 40 seconds faster than pre cheat shoes average. After his, ahem, “12:53” I knew there was know way wouldn’t get it. That is, as long as he didn’t forget his special shoes.
More than a minute faster than Kennedy - let that sink in. Track has become a full-blown circus.
Kennedy was a full minute faster than the decades before him. So was track a full blown circus then? By your logic, you would agree Kennedy was a joke who was only fast because of shoes.
My point is, and I will keep saying this on repeat, technology changes in all sports to make the players achieve closer to optimal performances. For track it's happened many, many times over the years. During the El G and Bekele years, if you forgot, Nike came out with new revolutionary spikes that increased times across the board dramatically. Do a little research and come back to us on this topic. You will see there are several periods of massive average improvement due to shoe technology. It's for the best and makes track more exciting.
Hi guys how about this -- don't compare people from different eras!
That's why all the GOATs have always valued medals and competition over times. You can only race who shows up, and you can only race with the gear and training of your time. Not worth thinking about more than that. Just enjoy great performances.
also had to chuckle about rojo once again blowing himself on the message boards after a moderately okay prediction. everybody knew fisher had 26:4X in him after his 12:53.
i do not see rojo posting when his picks flop, such as the "bet the olympics!" piece he did.

Agree completely. Ive always said ~3 seconds improvement in road shoes per mile and ~1 for the track shoes. If you take the pre-super spike era and start lopping off 3-4 seconds a mile like Rojo says, the times make no sense. Johnny Gregorek a 3:45 indoor miler? Jakob 2 seconds slower than he was at 17?
It sucks that the owner of the biggest running site in the world consistently brings down these great performances by spreading this bs. The spikes do make a difference, but its not as much as some people claim. I would also bet that the people most vocal about it have never even worn the spikes. They feel like a marginal improvement, slightly more comfortable and less wear on the legs. Compare this to the road shoes which literally feel like mini trampolines.

I really hope this is sarcasm. If not, then geez. You could've just said "this podcast consists of me claiming I can see into the future" and left it at that.
Sub 26 will become a regular occurance here soon. The amount of time depends on the type of runner and how well they respond to the shoes. Time will tell. I would bet that average US men's 10,000 times will average 40 seconds faster this year than any year previous to the shoes. The 5,000 US men's indoor already average 20 seconds faster than just 3 years ago. And, if you exclude 2019, this year averaged 30 seconds faster than the previous 10 years. At their prime, if Geb and Ken had the shoes they would have been under 26. Sub 26 is right around the corner. And it won't be because of new training or talent. It will be because of shoes.
