Rupp's 26:44 is extremely impressive (2:29 last 1k, 1:57 last 800), but it's disrespectful to say he would have crushed Fisher and Ahmed. I'm not even sure he would have won the race tonight.

Paavo Nurmi would have crushed all. Cheptegei, rupp, Fisher, etc. Once rubber soled shoes began being used, all times after that dont count. Lets not mention rubber tracks, pacers, EPO, and other aids.
over 50% of posters on letsrun are age 18-26 and still running. as a result, most people on this board are completely blind to the benefits these shoes so obviously provide.
the research is clear. The shoes do provide a massive benefit. Not sure if it’s 11 seconds or not over 10k, but it’s not an outrageous number based on the data available.

Shoes and tracks have changed nothing until just recently. Do your research and look it up. Also EPO is currently banned. But I’d argue the new cheat shoes out perform EPO.
