Me too he is good for the sport and a great man. I hope a true a sub 2:00 in a sanctioned marathon is in the future for him. He did it with the pacers but think with all he has done he deserves to be the first man to crush this barrier in a Marathon Major.
Get lost. I am seriously tired of the negativity on this board. Someone runs fast and it turns in to let slander the heck out of the person. Wejo start banning the doper accusers without proper evidence.
But he may the biggest doper of all time, a mechanical doper! Nike built the Vapor Fly for him. He has won races. He broke the world record. He ran the first sub 2 hour marathon in a huge marathon produced run. He won the Olympic Marathon Gold medal twice. This can’t be denied.
There is no question that he is an awesome person, father, runner and Nike spokesperson, but would he have accomplished as much without the Nike mechanical doping factory?

Everyone has had access to the same shoes as him four about 4 years now. He'd still be beating everyone if the supershoes didn't exist, he and everyone else would just be running a minute or two slower.
If not, what do you think he might have run, if pushed/pulled deeper into the race?
He was pushed in this race though. Amos Kipruto was running side-by-side with him until 38k’ish and was not far off the pace until. You could take from his facial expressions that he was working really hard from 28km to the finish. The final 5k were into a headwind which slowed the times slightly.
The marathon at the World Championships in Athletics has been contested by both men and women since the inaugural edition in 1983. It is the second most prestigious global title in the discipline after the marathon at the Oly...
Mega doper. Nice guy. Family man. Zen master. Humble champion.
Sorry Nike's fanboyz.

Why was the thread you quoted deleted. We've heard hundreds of times, that it's LRC's policy not to silence questions of doping, because, ahem, "it will help keep the sport clean".
Brojos you have an overly zealous mod, or you are flat out hypocrits.
When you have nations that live in altitude, add to that the poverty and the high growth of populations, dont be surprised by this kind of results.
The biggest sport, by far in Kenya is soccer. A C league player in Europe makes more money than Kipchoge, so that is a far more attractive option for a poor African.

And yet it's Kenyans like Kipchoge who were around at the height of the full throttle era over 20 years ago that are still dominating - despite the population of East Africa doubling in that time?
This reminds me, am I the only person who thinks the earlier version of Kipchoge carried his arms higher, specifically a smaller elbow angle and slightly less opening at the elbow throughout his arm pump? I'm not sure when exactly it changed, and if it coincided with the introduction of the super shoes. I think Kipchoge's arms were higher until at least Rio 2016 though, and it's not until the INEOS 1:59 that I felt he had definitively lowered them. Perhaps this is all in my head, or just an illusion of his clothing / camera angle?
I'll admit, I never thought he had another sub-2:03 in him. He's a genuine phenomenon (a term that's used way too much on LRC), a great time trialler and a devastating racer. He might even have one more shot at the WR in him
