Joe has peaked. Joe is a very good runner but he will be turning 26 in November. His improvements now will be very hard to come by. Joe has peaked. At least on the track.

He got two injuries in this build which kind of derailed it, was supposed to race Milrose recently
Such will be his mantra from here on out. He’s in the injury cycle. Ritz as his coach does not help that. Could still retire tomorrow and be an Olympian, however.

I do worry about him following his strava. He runs alot of miles and very fast.
He got a stress fracture and two weeks later ran 90 mpw fast. In janurary, where nothing to train for.
I worry the mentality that made him so damn good (alot and fast) will ultimately be his demise.
In my opinion, after following his training closely, he appears to go too hard too often. His "easy" distance runs between workouts (also known as klecker miles) are dang fast, especially for altitude. Running 100mpw at 6:00 pace vs 7:00 is a drastic difference. Ritz seems to hammer the crap out of him. He does monster sessions after races too. High volume, high intensity all the time = broken metatarsal. But hey he's an olympian so that's cool.

This is my thought. When it works it works and you get crazy fit and fly high. But when you get stuck in the injury/burnout cycle things get grim quickly.

Dang that’s quite a ratio! 4 to 100 upvotes to downvotes now that I threw my downvote in too
Agreed the best way to answer this is following him on Strava. He’s healthy and training at full strength now. Hasn’t done many hard workouts yet - is just starting those now. If he stays healthy from here out he’ll be in a good spot at the US 10K trials.
