How can USATF continue to be this incompetent? Date & location for US 10,000 trials are set but we don't have the standard?

Rumors are USATF tried to trade Mt Sac 10K at 2022 USAs and on for one or two events of the #LosAngeles28 Olympic Games. Hollywood TV said no obviously. The Olys have 1,000,000 times the stream, cable, and broadcast views. Stanford will have soccer prelims.

No one calls them out about it. Chris Chavez posted the news release but did he ask why it took so long? Why no standards? Why is it still not on their own cameo?

Shoot for? I would assume the guys who are going to be factors at the nationals aren't too worried about what the standard is.

How about they just run the fastest to their capabilities.

USATF ripped out the Oly Trials from Mt Sac in 2020 last time. Now USATF tried and failed to offer the 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 USA 10k to Mt Sac and steal the 10K from LA28 Olympics and give it to Eugene. Ha Ha Ha what a bunch of ....

If you are worried about what the standard will be, well then you don’t deserve to be at the trials

Sure but ever heard of trying to even pace or negative split a race? The Trials standard was 28:00. The guys in the US Champs Qualifier heat will be redlining to get there. If the standard is slightly faster or slower, they should know. There's a difference in going out at 13:45-14:00-14:15. You run to your fastest capability by running smart. There's no defense for USATF not getting this info out. It's March.

The morons at USATF also scheduled it the DAY BEFORE THE PREFONTAINE CLASSIC, The premier pro track meet in this country. Lots of US distance starts maybe MIA for the US's flagship event. Unbelievably.

From the USATF website: "The 2022 USATF 10,000m Championships will be contested May 27 the night before the Nike Prefontaine Classic under the lights at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene."

Also, I don't understand the rant of this thread... the qualifying standards are all listed on "The Ten" preview on the Let'srun.com homepage. Either they made them up or they're available.

The standards were distributed and talked about during the USATF annual meetings. The agents, coaches, and top runners are aware of them. However, I agree that posting of National Championships information, including standards, is way too late this year.

Mt Sac Relays in normally the largest time trials. Mt Sac Relays usually has 3 Women's 10K and 3 Men's 10K in Olympic Years, and 2 apiece in bye years. Each 10K has around 25 entries. The great thing is there are so many hotel rooms in So Cal and I've used at least 6 different airports to fly in and out of So Cal.
