Destroyed everyone to win the 3k last night.
Made 1500 look pretty easy today but I wasn't very impressed with his tactics. He did enough to beat the USA runners, but to be honest none of them are world players.
Runs tactically like he did today on World level and he gets dusted.
He needs a rival at the US level or it's going to hold him back.
You mean someone like Teare
Without Teare he really doesn't have many to compete with over 1500/3000
Indoors is harder to do tactically if you’re not looking to lead. If his race plan was to lead and then win from the front a la NCAAs last year i would’ve liked his chances. To me, he seemed like he was mostly interested in testing his kick and ability to move through the pack today. The field was weak enough that he didn’t freak out when he was well back throughout. Similar to the 3K, it felt like he was not touching his top gear. If the final 50m had instead been 100 meters he would’ve absolutely steamrolled Thompson as you could see from the end where Thompson was rigging and Hocker slammed on the brakes after the line.

Yes and no. The top 5 (!!) were under the old meet record. They may not have won, but they made him earn it.
