What would be the best state to be in when things pop off?

If I learned anything from watching Red Dawn(80s version), it would be Colorado.

The State of Denial, because there is no place to run to if things "pop off."

Definitely a state where the population is low, meat is plentiful & one can hunt or forage for their own food. This leaves out the east coast.

Liberal could actually be the answer because too many snowflakes will be scared to fight and congregate together to gossip in their weakness.

Alaska first, followed by central/western Nebraska.

Nevada. The only potential target outside Las Vegas is Area 51, and it is surely protected by invincible air defenses.

Afterward with the rest of the military and government destroyed, the personnel there will relax and you can show up there and they'll let you in and show you what they were hiding.

Other than that it will be easy to find some spot in the desert to dig a hole for a little underground shelter noone will ever find.

As far as hunting goes, I’ve read that almost all big game everywhere would be gone within weeks if not days. In a complete societal breakdown, there are enough skilled hunters who would panic and get their own almost immediately.

For water, you can dig a well.

For food, there's lizards, snakes and bugs. Bugs are incredibly healthy things to eat, you could live on bugs alone indefinitely.

Banff Alberta . Don't need to hunt. The Elk and squirrel will come to you if you hold out a hand of peanuts . Then you survive via canibalism and 7-11 mountain dew .

In survival mode, most important is access to water, food, and shelter. While being as far away from danger as possible.

If things pop off, usually it happens in urban centers, and where things of interests are located. I would definitely avoid NYC, San Francisco, Washington DC.
