if the new spikes are worth 3-4 sec per mile (lol @rojo) - then tefera shouldve been able to at least match his old PR right?
Excellent race from Jakob. Followed the pacers to a tee, and even had a bit of speed the final 200m. Outdoor should be fun. Wonder if Cheruiyot watches this stuff, or is notified after the fact.
That was a great race. Sowinski took them out nice through 800 at 1:52. Watching Jakob break with Teferi last 2 laps was amazing, they both put a lot of distance on the field and you could tell he had it. Rare to see a 1500 where someone really goes for it and turns the screw successfully, haven't looked at the splits but it looked executed perfectly
1.1 seconds faster than the 1500m specialist Haile Gebrselassie.
Super controlled, well executed race. No sit and kick, just a gradually increase. It seemed like it was a controlled, calculated effort. Setting the WR but not giving it all.
'22 will be Jakob's year for WRs. This one is just the first...
What is the purpose of this post?
Great question lol
Obviously , 331 was going to very breakable record today for him . Until recently they never ran the 1500 indoors except at tactical world or national events

beating a marathoner in 1500m by 1sec isn't impressive at all
Is Sowinski the GOAT pacer?
Said marathoner's 5K PB is 10 seconds faster than Jakob's and that is without super spikes.

For sure. If Seb Coe had Sowinski back in the day instead of James Robinson (the worst pacer of all time), Seb would've run 3:28

Yawn. G league record. A 3:30 is not something to celebrate.
