I mean the world record was 3:26 exact. Skys the limit if you have the genetics for it. I think he’ll get 3:29.5-3:31.25. I really hope your prediction is correct because that would be insane for an indoors 1500m.
The preview article says the pace is 2:21 for first km (3:31.5 pace), so I would be surprised if he was sub 3:29. In fact I think he ends up at 3:30.34. That's my guess.

Yakob will probably run a 3:30. Everyone should ask themselves, why should anyone be excited about a 3:30? That's mediocre. That's borderline G League.
"Oh but it's indoors-" And? Indoor performances arent slower because the environment inhibits athletes, it's slower mostly for lack of effort so I refuse to accept the lowered standards for indoor performances. If Yakob shows up and runs a 3:30.5 how is that any more impressive than the 3:28 hes run in the past? It's not, and his 3:28 isnt that impressive to begin with, so...

Someone just posted on another thread that nobody worth their salt runs 3:30 outdoors during indoor season. So, a 3:30 indoors is a helluve sweet ride and most people, including me and presumably excluding you, will be thrilled with seeing a good time posted on the board.
Won't break 330 probably runs 331-2. Can't count how many times people hype up world records and then it's not even close. Like over 90% of the time, no record, but hyperbolic hype. Hope they break em though. LFG

He doesn't have to break 3:30. He can run 3:30, set a PR and set the world record. Their not mutually exclusive.

He knows theyre not mutually exclusive. He's aware theres a gap over 1 second between both outcomes he mentioned, what he means is that the reality will turn out to be over a second slower than the expectation.
Me, I disagree. I think this record is soft as butter and Yakob is more than capable of breaking it on an off day in the offseason. 3:31 is pedestrian.
