Adidas was right. Stick a fork in that career. Third in that field in 4:12 (1500m) ain't good.

This seems to please you. She did beat Dani Jones and Cory McGee, who was 2nd at the trials last year.

Yeah, not a bad result for them, definitely better than at Millrose. The 4:12 is meaningless because it was a tactical race with a 45” last 300. Hiltz was .45” behind the winner who ran multiple 4:02s last year, .03” behind MacLean who made the US Olympic 1500 team, and 1.64” ahead of another US 1500-Olympian in McGee. Solid run!
Hiltz ran 4:02 and made the worlds team in 2019. This seems to have been her peak so far. I am actually willing to give many athletes a break who didn't do well in 2020-21 with the overall situation affecting maybe some badly, either in physical or mental health etc.
Nevertheless, I think it is telling how many fields in races in the last weeks didn't accept the pace and turned out to some extent tactical.

Fair point. But finishing 3rd in a tactical race in a competitive field in early Feb is hardly a "stick a fork in her" performance.
At least we didn’t have to put up with another story on Hiltz’s sexual proclivities. That is a plus.
I support her protect trans kids message, but I also support protecting women in sports. And I’m sorry, but for a man to transition to a female during college, and destroy a field of women only serves to empower one and disempower many. Imagine being a female and training your whole life for one race, to then get beaten by someone who was a male for the first twenty years of their life? I’m not trying to be disrespectful at all, just trying to have a conversation here.
this was actually a good race for Nikki. She closed well. That said if she's going to campaign for girls being forced to race males with her 'protect trans kids' nonsense, she should put her money where her mouth is and race men herself. She'll be lapped, but according to her women and girls should have no choice but to race males.

Her ‘protect trans kid’ singlet wasn’t campaigning for girls being forced to race males, dummy.

+1
People really struggle with thinking.
~99% of transgender youths have no interest in track and field.
She would have been half a lap behind Elle at Millrose
