Patrick Wills is at it again. The notorious cheater just ran 12.23 miles of the Rock N Roll New Orleans Half Marathon to claim first place in the 50-54 age group, while everyone else ran 13.1 miles.
His Strava shows he didn’t run the full race course on mile 8 on Lake Terrace Drive.
Rock N Roll New Orleans should DQ and ban him for any elite competition.
Wow, this guy doesn't even try to hide it. He even lists his distance at 12.2 miles. Below are the course map and the image from his Strava. Clearly an entire section is missing. Email the race director and get him DQed before he deletes the Strava image.

Being from the same town as this guy, I have always assumed he goes by that moniker because - much like the X-men character - the vast majority of his running sure seems fictional…

I commented on his strava and got blocked within 5 minutes of posting. I asked him a simple question:
“Wasn’t this an official half course? How did you miss whole mile? Classic course cutting, I see..”

You can see via his strava (and comparing to the course map) he made the correct turn, but decided to cut out that section of the course on purpose.
He has a reply on his strava where he says "i wasnt the only runner course was crazy". He is the only runner who made the turn and decided, screw it i am going to cut the rest of this section out and claim a PR, top masters and top 10.
I emailed RNR but not optimistic they will fix the result. Should be obvious by comparing to his strava and him not hitting the 10mi timing mat.
Worst part is he screen shot the results showing his cut course cheating time, unofficial results winning his AG and top 10 overall and posted it along with his run on strava.

Do you have the results of the top-20 or so? Nothing is available online yet. If you cut a full mile off of a HM, you are going to move ahead of A LOT of people. I would be curious what his place was at the previous timing mats and how many people he "passed" in the final 5K.

He didn't accidentally miss a turn and cut something off; he just said, "screw it, I'm not doing this loop" and turned around. It is hard to believe that nobody near the front noticed him. This is another reason I want to see the overall results. How much of a gap did he have between himself and the next runner ahead and behind. The runner behind him almost certainly had been able to see him for a while before the turn, saw him make the turn, and then suddenly POOF he's already completed a one-mile loop.
His strava indicates he turned around approximately at the red circle. It is a straight road to the turn around point.
There is no way this was an "accident."

In a very small race, where that out and back section was poorly marked I could see someone accidentally running straight past it. But a race of any significant size, where you actually turn and start down the street as the GPS indicated, you're going to see runners coming the other way, back towards you. It's basically impossible to "accidentally" do a 180 and go the opposite direction in that scenario when you're nowhere near the end of the out and back. Very, very questionable.
When these kinds of things happen, it's your duty to talk to the race staff and ask to be disqualified. There's no shame in doing so, if it's truly an accident. In fact, it's the right and honorable thing to do.
I sent them a direct link to his strava activity. Plus he missed their 10 mile timing mat. that should be enough, youd think, for their system to throw him out of the results.
