I wonder how fast he ran for the first 1609m of his race. He ran so much of this race in lane 2 and 3, I’m sure he lost more than one second

I can’t imagine being able to say I am a pro with a straight face then lose to a highschool kid
You think the most talented high schooler in the country couldn't do your job better than you do?

Wow! He went out in 61.5 and was 7th with 600 to go. Superb closing. Brilliant race by Colin!
He is a quick learner. Last year when he raced the pro,s, in his 3:46 1500, he lead and then was swallowed up by the pack.
In one of his interviews , I believe it was after the Clovis Invitational he stated that he learned at Woodbridge that he didn’t always have t lo lead.
If you look at video d of him racing at Woodbridge and races prior to Woodbridge he was always in the front. Since Woodbridge he bides his time, let’s others lead and he had great performances and wins.

Were any of the guys he beat really full time pro athletes, as in no jog, 100% of their income comes from running?
Or just guys who work ft and also run ?
Ryan Hill, Robby Andrews, maybe Joey Cheese? At least a couple full-time pros in there.

Maybe running a 3:58 mile is a good indicator that his best event is...
... mile?
It’s obvious to anyone with a brain that his eventual lifetime bests will be 3:33/7:30/12:56. Mayyybe 3:32.97.
; )

The worlds best got obliterated by a 19 year old Athing Mu in the olympics... should they all quit as a result?

It looked like he ran in lane 2 for 3 turns at most, as far as extra distance goes. So maybe one second?

Same thing happens in all sports. LeBron and Kobe and Garnett schooled lots of guys in the NBA straight out of high school.
How far did Ryan Hill hurl his track spikes into the stands after getting his doors blown off the last 400 by a high school senior. And all things being considered 4 flat is not bad the Ryan Hill considering his struggles the last couple years. Hopefully he makes a comeback
"8:29 going down."
I sure hope so! That genetic mutant time is illegitimate and by a Non-American. He mocked the whole system and then paid for it dearly. I think Sahlman could better Fernandez's 4:00 Flat 1600/8:34 3200 Double !

Almost as fast as Justyn Knight at age 25 in the 15 and 5., That would be an excellent career

Except they didn’t… look up their rookie numbers, never mind when they were actually in hs
here's the race. Very impressive, didn't look like he was working hard at all till the last 200 or so. He can run 3:56 right now.
Sahlman also breaks Tim Danielson's longstanding California mile record from 1966.
Given what happened later, glad that one's finally gone.

I guess you kind of missed the “high school” part of what he said lol. Christ man

Lebron had a good rookie year. Should of been an All star. Kobe not so much. It defeats the purpose tho since neither were still in “high school” as the op said.

It isn´t obvious at all!
I do agree Colin has potential to reach these times but no one knows now AND why stop with these times? Why can´t he do even better?

He ran intelligently. Did jjiijj expect him to pass on the inside or lead start to finish? Rewatching the race, it appeared he did his passing on the straights, stayed out of trouble, ran ideal splits and made a final decisive move to win the race.
ffs, it was an actual race, not a time trial.
