How to deal with people that make sexual remarks on group runs?

That's what guys talk about. But you know what, girl gossip is at least equally as bad. Human nature.

For me this seems like stalking them and also I don't think that is ok to blame other runners for not joining the group.

well in todays libers (fascist) society this sounds like sexual assault. just post about it on twitter a lot.

Maybe as a team building exercise, you can all massage each other after runs...

Are they older? I do some spin classes and a couple of older hobby bikers think they are funny but are just creepy. They make small inappropriate comments to women in the class like it is the 70s. Class is turning into a sausage fest. Now I am concerned that might be what they are after.

They are middle age, married and have children.

How did they respond when you firmly but politely asked them to stop?

Or did you not take this obvious first step before coming here to complain about it to people who can't possibly do anything about it?

I, as a female, would also not show up to this club after a 'nice ass' comment or the compression socks thing.

It is also apparent on these forums that men are just deranged sex addicts that can't keep a thought to themselves and feel entitled to subjugate everyone else to their wild fantasies.

don't be so dramatic. ive been on dozens of group runs and have never heard anything like this.

of course people like this exist. you ignore them, and they slowly disappear because they aren't getting the attention they seek.

To your question, "How to deal with people that make [inappropriate] sexual remarks on group runs?" - deal with such comments like you would deal with them in any other context. Just say in an easy-going tone of voice something along the lines of,

"Hey buddy, that's inappropriate. Enjoy your sex thoughts, but keep 'em to yourself."

Or

"Please stop with the sex comments. Other people don't want to be privy to every lewd thought that comes into men's heads."

what they are saying or thinking isn't necessarily the problem. the problem is not knowing your audience. lack of social awareness.

people can say what they want in groups of like minded friends. you just don't talk like that within earshot of mixed company.

What world do you live in.

If someone new shows up to my running group, I’m going to notice them the first time. Sometimes people are going to mention who runs with who. Get over it.

The other comments… I don’t like them either, but it’s inevitable that someone says something like that sometime, and it’s not a big deal. Unless someone is talking like that frequently, I’d just ignore it. If that’s how they always talk, then you need to decide whether you want to leave the group or you want them to leave the group, then approach them. Maybe after you approach them, they will be respectful, watch their words, and … happily ever after. Maybe one of the two of you will want to leave the group though. That’s the risk.
