What was your biggest regret in life?

Not turning back on a summit attempt when the weather started getting iffy. I ended up getting hit by lightning soon after reaching the top.

Good thing it wasn't a direct strike, or I'd probably be dead.

No regrets really, I am living life to the fullest and I bought my first house in that bubble too. If you kept holding on to it, your house would be out of the lows by now.

Very early in live I decided I would not wait to do stuff before I retire. I traveled a lot, had some epic races.

Life is, what you make of it and there are always phases where it will suck.

My wife and I got divorced. We had a dog at the time. We would trade the dog back and forth every few weeks. I wanted to totally severe my relationship with my ex wife. My biggest regret is considering giving up on the dog so I wouldn’t ever see my ex.

My ex and I got back together and that dog taught me what love is. The dog also is probably responsible for us being together now, as well as my children.

I can’t believe I ever considered giving up on the dog. She died about a year ago….still have days I can’t get her out of my mind.

I’m privileged, and maybe delusional, to say that is my only regret in 41 years.

I regret never running a marathon. My 26:00 8k from 20 years ago predicts I could have run 2:18 if I wanted.

I don't agree with his method of delivery but David Goggles is right that you have to say, "fvck people." And by the i mean the ones who don't really matter--obviously not family or close friends. A lot of people are afraid to donaomething/take a risk because of what society thinks. Society wants to suck you into their vacuum of the rat race. Their expectations are for others to suck just like them and be miserable. They get insecure when others chase their dreams and happiness.

I was an early Bitcoin miner and managed to make 200 of them. I formatted the computer and they are gone. That would have been worth about 7.4 million today which would have basically doubled my income this year.

You could still do it….. Don’t wait until you’re too old or get injured.

If you really want to run a marathon, go for it!

Started smoking pot in 6th grade didn't give it up until I turned 19.

I was going to put 10k in a stock that went as much as 130x. Would have made over a million on that alone. Oh well I missed the mark there. GOD DAMNIT.

As far as running regrets go, it would be not joining my college track team. My 1600 PR was 4:51, and since I went to a D1 school, I automatically thought that I'd have no chance of walking on, so I never bothered to ask. After graduation, I found out that the coach let almost anyone on the team, including the 5:00 milers. The only catch was that they couldn't compete in any meets besides the home meet.

Not pursuing a UX online degree in 2014. I'm wondering if I'm too old to get into it, most UX jobs I'd love to do are usually occupied by Gen Z types (22-30) and at 38 I'm older. I'm still looking into certs or a career path where I can break into it.

I regret doing journalism in my 20s and not making more $ at the time, and being stuck in dead-end job for the entire decade before getting smarter and moving on.

Sold my Chipotle in 2016

I’ve made some bad buys, but the selling has been much worse (on missed gains).

I’ve still done well in the market, but I could be retired if I had held even half of those positions.

Nice try, doesn't count. That's not a regret. It's something you would have regretted had you done it, but didn't.

Man, I feel ya.

I bought bitcoin for under $2K and sold it at just over $3K. But I only bought a small amount, so even if I sold at $60K instead of 3K, I still wouldn't have enough to retire.

Not being more socially active in college. I wasn't on any teams, didn't join a club or frat. I went to class and worked. I barely even dated. I have a good degree and a nice career now, but I still feel like I wasted those years.

I met a girl in high school who went to a different school and was older than me. We became friends and stayed in contact / hung out even into college. My feelings for her were intense and she definitely led me on. Anyway, one day I decided to lay it all out and tell her how I feel. She rejected me and we were never the same. Haven't talked to her in 15 years.

I'm married now with kids. I love my wife. With that said, I still think about that girl (grown woman now). I'm still not quite over it. F*ck it though, life goes on.

That cute blond girl I met in an engineering class and dated my last year of college and didn't try harder to make things work out when I graduated and left town for work. Haven't met that combo of looks, brains, and fun since.

It's never too late to get into tech. My company has hired people your age. It comes down to being able to be a team player and adapt. Older people fail in tech when they act like boomers and get pissed off all the time. "This isn't right! This tool sucks!" etc. If you're a cool open minded dude you'll do fine.

If you haven't really hurt anybody then regrets are for young people, I guess. Mine don't last more than a day or two.

Why do that to yourself? I guarantee you, they won't matter later.
