I know this is a question that many people have but actually I‘d just like to ask you people who have some clue about running the following:
First of all I am 19 years old.
I used to swim competitively but due to several reasons (one of them is the pandemic) I was kinda forced to stop. Though I still love the sport so I started to get my coaching license and I’m currently coaching children in a club.
But I’d be a bad coach if I wouldn’t keep challenging myself physically.
Swimming is currently not really possible and to be quite honest- for me it’s too late to achieve great things in that sport.
That’s why I decided to start running as a hobby (and I’m also working out in a gym).
To sum it up:
I’ve been wondering what a dude like me could achieve on a competitive level in running (especially distances of 5km and more).
You‘ll probably call it stupid but first thing I did when I started was running 10km for which I needed 55min. 5km took me 26:30 (I’d also like to try the half and full marathon later on).
These are probably times that you‘ll be laughing about but I’m eager to get better and I’d simply like to know what I could realistically aim for (I’ve always been more of a head person- bad habit when it comes to sport but whatever).
Genetics probably take a big role.
I‘ll try to post updated every couple of weeks so you might make assumptions considering my progress.
Thanks to y’all!
