Coffee Club breaks the news that Shelby has followed BTC to train in Flag….

I suspect that Nike thinks they are above the rules and can continue to reside in the grey area....they haven't shown us any differently throughout Shelby's whole debacle. Not surprising that they'd do this move

She was seen at a high school XC meet in Oregon this past season supporting/socializing with former Bowerman Track Club youth athletes. While not illegal by any stretch, it does seem inappropriate under the circumstances and gives a lot of people pause for concern. Others in the entourage know full well what has transpired with Ms. Houlihan and "I didn't know!" cannot be trotted out as an excuse.

Bowerman TC is feeling quite slimy these days.

If anybody cared to dig, they would find that Nike is still paying her.

Is she not allowed to train? Genuinely asking. What are the rules of her ban?

What did they say exactly on the podcast?

I can confirm Houlihan is definitely in Flagstaff - she has strava now and some friends have seen her down Lake Mary Road (popular running spot). I also saw her doing a workout by herself at NAU last week. Her sister, Shayla (a coach), I'd well known round here has a house here in town, so may not be exclusively BTC related.

I could see it being messy, but I guess as long as she isn't training with other non banned athletes then the AIU hardly has the power to ban her from the city.

Tbh, whether I was clean or dirty, if I were her the last thing I'd want to do would be in the vicinity of the team im banned from, dragging my asss around for 15mile long runs and solo workouts at 7000ft. So much pain for zero reward while constantly being reminded of what I used to have. Sounds like my kind of nightmare.

According AIU she’s allowed to train but not in any organized way with BTC athletes or any athletes for that matter, but everyone knows she is. While else is she in Flag? Agree that the whole thing is shady. BTC continued to list her on the roster. That team is in a free fall and they are just making things worse. Shelby has to go, guilty or not. I’m surprised Nike hasn’t come down hard on BTC. They shuttered the NOP for way less of a clear violation. Shelby is a confirmed doper and the BTCs biggest star.

I looked up the rules on WorldAthletics website just now, and they're super vague and kinda surprisingly relaxed.

Basically says you aren't allowed to "practice" with athletes registered with a "member federation" eg USATF but there's no definition of what a practice is. Like if the NB Boston gals bump into her on Lake Mary and they chat on an easy run for 15min, does that break the rules?

Not allowed to compete in certified events. Not allowed to take part in activities/practices organized by member federations or affiliated clubs eg BTC. Can't use facilities or funds of member federations or affiliated teams.

But yes, nothing saying she cannot train by herself, or with anyone else for that matter. Like so long as someone isn't an active registered member of USATF she could workout with them is what it looks like. Also while it looks like she can't benefit from any club, it also doesn't say she can't just give some $$ to a coach and ask them to coach her 1 on 1 privately outside of any other activity.

If she is posting on Strava, she’s definitely not trying to hide it. She ran with Karissa’s bf yesterday.

Can people get in trouble just for running with her? Probably not?

She ran with Karissa as well. Interesting that Karissa and her BF didn't long run with the rest of the team. This seems really shady. She is running with members of BTC but not at their practices? The Coffee Club Pod said that she is basically showing-up to BTC practice 20 minutes after they have left and likely doing similar workouts. If this is true I don't know how it is allowed. Not a good look for BTC at all. If they are okay with doing something this shady why should I believe they aren't doing other shady things?

I thought that was in jest. My understanding was they knew she was in flag (which is common knowledge by now), all else was speculation. But they weren't being super clear about it.

She is and Fast Women (aka Alison Wade) has been reporting on it, which is absolutely disgusting. Unless she's trying to enter races under a pseudonym, can we take all the spotlight off of this shameless cheat?

That even the BTC coaches openly stood up for this banned doper, was already quite telling.

Isn't Karissa coming back from an injury, so likely on an adjusted training schedule?

I don't see what the problem of going on (non-BTC Team) long runs with her would be for any athlete. Karissa and Shelby are well documented friends in the joint interviews they have done, non-workout runs are not going to give Karissa some sort of edge. Maybe the "coffee club" has too much free time and like trolling the friends of their fellow Wisconsin Alumni who are on BTC. Maybe they're jealous that they have to buy their own Nike's to race in since On doesn't have good racing shoes yet. Maybe they are just trying to see how many pages of a lets run thread they can get with subtle comments on a podcast that is not even a fraction of the following that a truthteller like Joe Rogan gets.

BTC should have her run a TT and stream it for the world to watch. The team can be in the front row watching.

So she's doing workouts after BTC have left the track? So she is *not* working out with them?

I mean... that seems fine? Like seems like she's coordinating to make sure she doesn't go to the track at the same time as BTC. I assume people wouldn't want the opposite.

As a libertarian and a centrist, I believe that Houlihan should be banned from exercising in any capacity.

I understand why Shelby would want to do this. But wouldn’t the clean athletes on BTC (assuming …hoping… at least some of them are clean !?)want to stay as far away from her as possible?
